Adventures in Music (AIM)

Aspiring young musicians will experience the world of drumming, guitar, piano, and wind instruments in a fun and enriching environment where they will have the opportunity to participate in a performance to highlight their newly achieved music and collaboration skills.

Kitchen Raiders

Learn the basics of baking and cooking through hands-on kitchen.

Students will plan and produce master chef menus including appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Students will learn healthy baking tips and the nutritional value of food.

Techsplosion

Explore coding, 3D modeling and printing, robotics, and drones.

Students will learn how to build and program an App; design and print an object using TinkerCad and a 3D printer; build and program a LEGO car with Mindstorm and RobotC; and program a drone. These experiences will introduce students to unique technological challenges and navigations.

STA Summer Theater Academy 2017

Open to aspiring young actors grades 6, 7, & 8.

Students will have the opportunity to run the musical theatre gamut from auditions to staging, choreography and vocals, to culminate in a showcase performance at the end of each week.

(Curriculum and roles in the showcase performance will vary weekly)

Week #1: June 12-16, 2017, 8:30AM -3:30PM

Week #2: June 19-23, 2017, 8:30am -3:30pm

$325 per student, per week if registered by May 25

$350 per student, per week after May 25

*$600 per student for both weeks if registered by May 25

Theater Intensive Study Session

The Intensive Study Session will focus on monologue and improve techniques for the stage and screen, Intensive Study students will also perform in our showcase performance at the end of each week.

The majority of daily activities will be based on the Florida State Thespian Competition standards. Summer Theater Academy Full Sessions will take aspiring young actors through the musical theater experience: from auditions - to staging, choreography and vocals to culminate in a showcase performance at the end of each week. This program is appropriate for actors with previous musical theater experience as well as beginners. For the more experienced actor, it will build on their current skills - allowing actors to grow in their stage presence, vocal, acting and choreography skills as featured performers and as ensemble members. For beginners, it will provide them a firm foundation upon which to grow their confidence while building vocal, acting and choreography skills, preparing them for future auditions and featured roles as well as learning the importance of working as an ensemble member.

The program will be directed by Mary Huddleston-Waxman (Director of Drama/Music, St. David School). Additional Master Classes will be taught by St. Thomas Aquinas Fine Arts Faculty Members.
