Library Media Center

The Library Media Center (LMC) opens at 7:00 a.m. and remains open until 4:00 p.m. on regular school days. On early release days, the Center closes one hour after dismissal. The LMC provides the students, parents, faculty, and staff an extensive and functional collection of books, periodicals, and audiovisual software. In addition, the fiction collection serves to inspire a love for recreational reading. The Center's computer services include access to the online catalog of STA library materials; periodical indexes; a plethora of curriculum-related subscription research databases with both school and remote access; and access to eductional, governmental, and Vatican sites via the internet. Academic and research purposes related to a specific school activity dictate all computer activities. Anyone wishing access to these online services must adherre to the St. Thomas Acceptable Use Policy for Computers.

Orientation and Research Instruction Programs

The LMC staff offers an orientation program for freshmen and a research lesson program for juniors. Teachers may plan and develop other units of instruction cooperatively with the LMC staff. On the day of the program, teachers take attendance in the classrooms and then lead their classes to the LMC. Students leave their book bags in the classroom and return to the classroom five minutes before the bell.
