Thankful and empowered to pay-it-forward, our students make a difference!
Ben Fraser has been a part of the student community assisting children at Kids in Distress since before his time at STA. Before he was a Raider, Ben was assisting his older siblings with the same mission he continues today! Mission being, feed as many families as possible. This year Ben led his peers in collecting and packaging 400 bags of food and $5,000 worth of Publix gift cards to be given to families for Thanksgiving meals.
Kids In Distress (KID) is a nationally accredited agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, the preservation of the family, and the treatment of abused and neglected children. Founded in 1979, KID started as a shelter for abused and neglected children. During its 40 operational years, KID has grown to include two campuses in Broward County, and a foster care office in Palm Beach County, and in January of 2019, acquired Family Central, Inc. (FCI) which provides comprehensive family strengthening, early learning, a child care food program, and educational training services in South Florida. KID offers a well-integrated system of care staffed with clinical professionals who tenaciously strive to encourage, educate, empower, and equip children and families with the proper tools to ensure a safe and stronger community.
