Congratulations to the following students who will be moving on to present their projects at the National Science Fair State Finals. St. Thomas Aquinas is one of the only schools to have a student place in every entered category. 

Congratulations to the following students who will be moving on to present their projects at the National Science Fair State Finals. St. Thomas Aquinas is one of the only schools to have a student place in every entered category. Raiders continue to lead the way in STEM across Broward County.

First place winners

  • Ethan Kermis with his "Mangrove Desalination" design to turn salt water into freshwater, placed First in Environmental Engineering
  • Mattew Corbin with his "Electromagnetic Improvements", placed First in Engineering
  • Kaitlyn Urruela for "Biodegradation of Plastics with Microorganisms", placed First in Microbiology
  • Evan Sterne for the correlation of "Oil Fracturing and Drilling to a rise in Earthquakes" placed First in Mathematics

All Placements:

  • Sophia Solomon and Haily Norton received second place for their project "Bioremediation using a Fungus to Eliminate Red Tide"
  • Roshan Joseph for his successful "Caffeine Survey" to reduce caffeine intake placed third in Human and Behavioral Sciences
