Applying to St. Thomas Aquinas High School marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards academic excellence and personal growth. Prospective students undergo a thorough and holistic admissions process that considers various factors, including academic records, standardized test scores, extracurricular involvement, character, and potential to contribute positively to the school community. The application process involves submitting an application form, academic transcripts, standardized test scores (such as the HSPT) and letters of recommendation. Aspiring students are encouraged to showcase their achievements, aspirations, and unique qualities throughout the application process. STA's admissions team is committed to providing support and guidance to applicants and their families every step of the way, ensuring a smooth and enriching transition into the STA community.

I am a current 8th grader

All current 8th-grade students who are interested in being a member of STA's 9th-grade class for the 2025/26 school year must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) @ STA on Saturday, December 7^th or Saturday, December 14^th. Please use the following link to fill out the HSPT registration and to submit the $50 registration fee. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR HSPT

Note that the registration for the HSPT also counts as your student’s 9^th-grade application.

A week before the HSPT, parents will receive an email from STA. Included in that email will be the student’s admissions ticket and details pertaining to dress code, pickup/dropoff times/locations, room assignments, etc.

Shortly after your student takes the HSPT, parents will receive an email with a link to upload supporting documents (7^th/8^th grade transcripts and standardized test scores). Do not email these documents prior to receiving our email request. All emailed documents will be discarded. Some Catholic feeder schools will provide STA with these requested documents via a principal’s recommendation form, however, it is the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian(s) to ensure these documents are received by the indicated deadline. Please discuss this matter with your school.

After registering for the HSPT, you can request educational accommodations on the HSPT for your student by emailing a copy of your student’s IEP, ILP, PSSP, 504, private evaluation, medical documentation, or other accommodations plan to Natali Acevedo (natali.acevedo@aquinas-sta.org). Questions related to educational accommodations on the HSPT should be directed to Mrs. Acevedo.

i am interested in transferring to STA

Beginning 2-1-25, parents can have their student placed on STA's 2025/26 transfer waitlist by emailing a PDF copy of their student’s current transcript (must have semester one grades for the 2024/25 school year) and a copy of their PSAT, PACT, SAT, or ACT scores to adam.matthews@aquinas-sta.org. Any questions can also be directed to this same email address. If transfer spots become available, STA will begin contacting students on the transfer waitlist around mid-April 2025.
