St. Thomas Aquinas High School Becomes First Catholic High School in the U.S. to Offer Cambridge Program

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is proud to announce a groundbreaking achievement in academic excellence. As of January 30, 2025, St. Thomas Aquinas has officially been designated as a Cambridge school, earning the distinction of being the first Catholic high school in the United States to partner with Cambridge International Education. This prestigious recognition places St. Thomas Aquinas among a global network of schools dedicated to innovative learning, academic rigor, and the development of essential 21st-century skills.

Cambridge International Education, part of the University of Cambridge, is the world's largest provider of international education, with over 160 years of experience in developing rigorous and globally recognized curricula. Its qualifications are accepted by over 1,000 colleges and universities across the United States, including Florida’s state universities.

A Commitment to Excellence

Dr. Jim Rigg, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Miami, shared his enthusiasm for this milestone:
“We are thrilled that St. Thomas Aquinas High School has earned the distinction of a Cambridge School. Such an honor is reflective of the innovative spirit of St. Thomas Aquinas, as well as its ongoing commitment to academic rigor and faith formation.”

The Cambridge Pathway offers students a structured, high-level academic experience that prepares them for college and beyond. Students who complete the Cambridge Advanced courses and exams can earn valuable college credits, academic achievement recognition, and even scholarships. Florida students who complete the Cambridge AICE Diploma while meeting Bright Futures Scholarship requirements qualify for free tuition at state colleges, making this program an invaluable opportunity for STA students.

A Global Partnership

Mark Cavone, Regional Director for North America at Cambridge International Education, welcomed St. Thomas Aquinas into the Cambridge community:
"We are delighted to welcome St. Thomas Aquinas High School to the global Cambridge community as the first Catholic high school in the United States to embrace the Cambridge Pathway. This partnership represents a shared commitment to fostering academic excellence and equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in our changing world."

The announcement coincides with Catholic Schools Week, a time to celebrate the value of Catholic education and its impact on students' academic and spiritual growth.
